Legend of Tsvetnogo — Apartment 03
The apartment's interior can be characterized as a space of hedonism, as the owner lives here alone, and all decisions are made with an emphasis on his comfort. Inside, there is a guest area that represents a separate mini-apartment with its own entrance and a small kitchen, decorated in the same style as the main space. Half of the perimeter of the 280-square-meter residence is made entirely of glass, allowing for the use of rich and deep colors without the worry of making the interior too dark. In this apartment, circular movement is organized: all the furniture is concentrated in the center.
There is no dividing wall between the living and passage areas, but the boundary is clearly visible on the floor, where the wooden "island" is framed by a wide strip of microcement. The corridor leading from the hallway slightly widens, creating a visual effect of "immersion" into the apartment. In the center of the space are the bathroom and utility rooms, which receive natural light through special porthole windows. As for the style, the designer suggested leaving the structural elements—concrete ceilings and columns—exposed to emphasize the height of the space. The only exception is the kitchen and bathroom area, where all the utilities are concealed. Concrete surfaces were polished and waxed to create a more aesthetic appearance, while the walls and floor are partially covered with microcement. Black metal and wood are also used in the finishing, which gives the interior texture and brutality.
DESIGN Architectural
BÜROE Ekaterina Valts
Architectural BUROE was founded in 2004 by Stroganov Academy graduate Ekaterina Valts. She considers her friend, architect Lazzaro Raboni, to be her mentor and teacher.
The main distinctive feature of Valts is her unconventional spatial solutions and her love for unique layouts. Throughout her career, Ekaterina has completed over 600 projects in 7 countries and 10 regions of Russia.
In the residential complex "Legenda Tsvetnogo," several striking projects were completed, but in 2016, AD magazine highlighted one of them as a unique brutal masculine interior.
BUROE gained broader public recognition after working with restaurateurs, the Berezutsky brothers, on the restaurants Twins Garden and Twins Wine Space. For the design of the first venue, Ekaterina was awarded the "Palm Branch of the Restaurant Business" for "Best Interior," and a few years later, the restaurant received two Michelin stars. The Twins Garden laboratory was created in collaboration with Italian artist Henry Timi.
Some of the latest large-scale projects are located on the other side of Russia — in the city of Vladivostok. In the very center of the city are the Grand Hotel Vladivostok and the multifunctional business hotel BURNY Rodina. The design of the Vladivostok hotel involved the Japanese hotel operator Okura. Because of this, the company's owners invited Ekaterina as an honorary guest to Japan, as the first female designer who made a significant contribution to the future development of the hotel chain.
The bureau believes that every space should tell its own story and reflect the character of its inhabitants. Clients note how their lives change for the better in their new "homes" thanks to Ekaterina’s skill in understanding people and their dreams when realizing projects. This passion for creating unique spaces attracts not only clients but also students of architectural universities eager to learn from the master.
Year after year, BUROE continues to expand its horizons, taking on projects that not only inspire but also actively transform the appearance of cities.
